Research and Innovation Fellowship for Agriculture (RIFA)

The USAID Research and Innovation Fellowship for Agriculture (RIFA) offers early-career professionals enrolled in agricultural and development-oriented graduate programs at UC Davis, and collaborating UC’s, the opportunity to plan and implement two to six- month-long international projects.

The Fellowship aims to connect motivated students with unique skill sets to project opportunities through an online network that promotes global knowledge exchange. Host organizations define the available opportunities and a Fellow’s collaborative work contributes integrally to the success and sustainability of ongoing projects and programs. 

Host institutions may include NGOs, private sector companies, research centers, universities, and government ministries. Hosts can be local entities or larger, international organizations involved in development work. Host organization's doing work in Feed the Future countries as well as, Colombia, Brazi, South Africa, the Phillippines, India and Indonesia are especially encouraged to utilize this resource

Catalyze global research collaborations through fellowships that inspire early-career individuals to leverage science, technology, innovation, and partnership (STIP) expertise to solve complex development challenges and enhance capacity in developing countries, focusing in particular on countries prioritized by USAID. 

Area of Focus

Providing international development project learning opportunities focused on agriculture, food systems and accompanying social and economic issues in developing countries.
